Enhance your cheering section

Why do you need a life coach? For many of the same reasons a football team needs a cheerleading squad.

Team members know all the moves, all the formations. They have a highly trained football coach guiding their specific skills. They’ve spent years developing those skills, attending practice after school, working out at home, studying replays and videos of other teams. They know what they need to know and have the strengths required to play a really good game.

So why does every football team come packaged with a cheerleading squad?

Because no matter how talented, focused, or ready for the big game you are, you need other people behind you---and not just colleagues and coworkers, who have their own agendas for greatness.  You need people who align with and support your personal efforts.

People who stand aside while you do-your-thing and call your name (literally or figuratively), wave the pom-poms in the air (or remind you of your vision), encourage you to greatness when you falter, and jump up and down screaming congratulations when you succeed.

Even if we’re not members of a football team, we all need that kind of unconditional support in our lives. Going for the gold---whether it’s winning the Rose Bowl or finding the right rose-colored bowl to decorate the dining room table---is a smoother course with someone on the sidelines aligned with us.

Think of a life coach as your personal cheerleading squad helping you build your strengths, inspiring you to overcome your weaknesses, building you up when you misstep, cheering you on when things get tough. Being there for you no matter what game of life you’re playing, on the sidelines, helping you win.

How to choose a life coach that is right for you? Before deciding to work with a life coach, think about the outcomes you want. Do you want more focus on your career or your relationships, your work-life balance, or something more specific? When choosing a personal life coach, there are three very important things for you to consider:1.Certification:Certification is very important, because personal coaching is a profession that requires very specific skills, conduct standards, and a foundation of training which is only taught at qualified schools and organizations.2.References: Ask for references from current or past coaching clients.3.Synergy: An effective life coach for one person may not be a good match for another. Personal chemistry is important. Ask for an introduction coaching session, so you can see for yourself what coaching is all about and find out if you feel comfortable enough to develop the trust and confidence necessary for breakthrough coaching.
