HRC Nashville has announced that Carson Kressley will be the featured speaker at the 14th Annual Equality Dinner this weekend.
Perhaps most well-known from his role in Bravo's original series "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," Kressley is an accomplished stylist, breakout television star, author and fashion designer, having recently launched his new collection of women's and men's wear exclusively on QVC.
Kressley champions a wide variety of charities and organizations including many gay rights causes. He lends his celebrity to the Human Rights Campaign Federal Club, the 2004 AIDS Walk in New York City, GLAAD, Heritage of Pride, Inc., The Trevor Project and Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN). Also, Kressley was a major donor in establishing the first college scholarship program for gay youth in his hometown of Allentown, Penn.
Through his many successful endeavors, Kressley has helped bridge the gap between different genders and sexual orientations, and on March 14 he brings his signature energetic wit to Nashville for the Equality Dinner on March 14 at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. Click here to purchase tickets.
The dinner is presented by Bridgestone and will also include the comedy of The Jugg Sisters and the music of Mary Gauthier and honor this year's award winners; Brad Beasley, Suzanne Bradford and Judy Lojek.
Inspired by the Olivia Newton-John hit from Xanadu, “Have to Believe” is the theme for the Nashville Equality Dinner has quickly become a motto for the planning committee for the 2009 gala.
"At a time when we are all forced to make tough economic choices, the Nashville dinner committee has pushed full steam ahead-refusing to give up their belief in the Nashville community that supports this event each year," HRC members said in an email from the group's national headquarters.
The 2009 gala is anchored by longtime supporter Bridgestone who has served as presenting sponsor of the event for more than five years.
CMT has also returned to sponsor the Silent Auction. Other returning sponsors include Bass, Berry & Sims, Vanderbilt University, Waller, Lansden, Dortch & Davis as well as SunTrust. These partners create the foundation of the Nashville Equality Dinner’s success and continue to drive the committee to deliver a bigger and better experience for the Nashville & Tennessee community.
