On a sunny day he’s likely to be found on the sand volleyball court outside his apartment. Any other time, he’s probably trying to avoid paper cuts as he thumbs his way through fashion magazines.

Fitness and fashion – two of the most important things in the life of Ryan Ripley*, a model and student of apparel design at MTSU.

“I love everything about fashion,” Ripley said. “I’m constantly looking at new collections and trends of new designers as well as major design labels.”

The Nashville native plans to leave the U.S. after graduating from Middle Tennessee State University to explore the world of fashion design in London, England.

“I want to start my own clothing line after I’ve been able to network myself more and get a better idea about the fashion industry,” he said.

In the mean time, he’s keeping his eyes on the lines of other designers from the runway, to advertisements, to his local shopping mall.

On bad days, he’ll make a fashion-forward purchase or two.

“A couple new things can make the worst day better,” Ripley said.
