Honorees named for 15th Annual HRC Equality Dinner

Four leaders from Nashville's GLBT community will be honored by the Human Rights Campaign at the Feb. 27 HRC Equality Dinner.

David Taylor, Michael Ward, Dwayne Jenkins and Maria Salas will all be honored for their equality work in the Nashville community.

community and outside of the GLBT community that is focused on equality for all citizens regardless of cause.  "It honors a long-term commitment to the mission of HRC & other equality organizations and is specifically targeted toward high profile achievements within our community," explained co-chair Jeremy Davis.

Dwayne Jenkins:  Community Leadership Award – this award truly honors community service, community organizing and leadership in the trenches of our community and the greater fairness-minded community – it is truly a salute to grass roots service & great accomplishment within our community.

Maria Salas: Equality Award – A premier award that rewards service, commitment and actions that honor the mission of HRC, fighting for full equality for all LGBT people. This award honors a spirit of both field work on the ground in the community as well as resource commitments such as business relationships, financial assistance and fundraising for HRC & other LGBT organizations.

The event – sponsored by Bridgestone – will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m. at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. The theme for the 2010 Equality Dinner is Tribute: 15 Years of Impact. It will celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of everyone the HRC has honored since its first Equality Dinner 15 years ago.
