The Metro Human Relations Commission continues their search for a new executive director. That position had been held for the last six years
by Kelvin Jones, who left June 30 to resume his private law practice.
The Executive Director is a non-civil service position responsible for the implementation and evaluation of the Commission’s initiatives and the administration of other programs including education and advocacy, compliance, and policymaking.
Chief among the duties of this position is ensuring that the commission’s basic mission, which is to provide community-wide education to prevent discrimination in employment and housing, is met. Also, the new hire will begin tracking data regarding sexual orientation and gender-identity discrimination in accordance with Metro’s expanded nondiscrimination statute.
The commission, created in 1965, also has an ongoing roster of community meetings and other business duties that will also require attention. For more information on the Metro Human Relations Commission and this particular position, click here.
