Belmont United Methodist Church will host a screening of Out in the Silence at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012. The award-winning documentary follows filmmaker Joe Wilson’s return to his rural hometown after the announcement of his same-sex marriage in the local newspaper.

Immediately following the hour-long documentary, panelists from in- and outside the Methodist community will discuss the church’s stance on gay-affirming issues, along with topics such as teen bullying, closing the gaps between the communities, and how to be tolerant of the intolerant.

The screening will be held in the church's Community Center facing 21st Avenue. Belmont United Methodist Church is located at 2007 Acklen Avenue in Nashville.
